Welcome to Steel Design Studios. We are a full-service metal shop located in Charlotte. But we’re probably not like metal shops you’ve seen. We’re artists at heart, and metal is our medium.
We create work that defies trends. Which is why we’re routinely commissioned by people with a love of metal art who want custom staircases, doors, gates, and more. We also create corporate concepts and sculptures for public spaces. Every one unique, but each one forged with love.
We employ traditional and non-traditional metallurgy techniques and tools to bend, cut, and fabricate a range of metals into the forms we visualize. To us this is more than just a job. It’s a calling.

Blacksmith
A blacksmith is a metalsmith who creates objects from wrought iron or steel by forging the metal, using tools to hammer, bend, and cut. Blacksmiths produce objects such as gates, grilles, railings, light fixtures, furniture, sculpture, tools, agricultural implements, decorative and religious items, cooking utensils and weapons. Yes, weapons.
